Use of
Fluoroplastic-Etch®
			1
Product
Before use: warm the bottle briefly in a hot water bath and dry completely. Avoid contact with water as this will render the product unusable. Shake the bottle vigorously before application.
			2
Surfaces
The Teflon® surfaces to be worked on must be clean, dry and degreased. Use a solvent such as Acetone or MEK for this purpose.
Do not use water or alcohol.
			3
Treatment by immersion
Pour the desired amount of Fluoroplastic-Etch® into a suitable container. Take the Teflon® part to be treated with clean, dry tweezers and immerse it completely in the liquid.
Allow the product to act for a few seconds to a maximum of 1 minute. The exact duration depends on the concentration and application temperature.
The etched surface will darken.
Remove the part from the container with dry, clean tweezers and rinse immediately with warm water.
			4
Cleaning
For additional cleaning, the part can be rinsed with acetone, MEC or toluene. Then rinse it one last time with warm water to get it completely clean. Carefully dry the part with a clean towel. The surface is now ready to bond with any material that is adhesive. The Teflon® surface completely accepts the adhesive.
Important Considerations
Storage and use of Fluoroplastic-Etch®
UV protection: If you want to bond the Teflon® part more than 48 hours after treatment, cover it completely with a black film.
UV light corrodes the etched surface over time. Correctly covered, the surface can be bonded even after several years.
Moisture and airtight work: For larger surfaces, we recommend using Fluoroplastic-Etch® in a nitrogen (N₂) or other dry atmosphere. The product quickly becomes unusable on contact with moisture or excessive humidity.
Adjusting viscosity: You can use Fluoroplastic-Thin to dilute the liquid. This is useful for very thin tubes or cavities. Maximum ratio: 2:1 (Etch/Thin).
Bottle storage: Store Fluoroplastic-Etch® in a full bottle. A partially empty bottle reduces its effectiveness within just a few minutes. After use, you can press on the polyethylene bottle to remove all the air, so residual liquid can be used perfectly again later.
Consumption: 1 liter of Fluoroplastic-Etch® is sufficient to etch approximately 8 m² under optimal conditions.
Packaging: Available in polyethylene bottles of 250, 500 or 1.000 ml.
